We've all heard in school the reason we learn about old history is so that we don't make the same mistakes over and over. It's pretty much the same thing in life.
We all need to understand what we have already tried that doesn't work. Now most of you look at that and say duh! of course. But when you look at your actions, are your actions saying duh why am I doing this AGAIN?? Probably not.
And as with history, it takes us a while of doing the same thing for it to finally sink in that such and such just isn't going to work no matter how many times you try it.
With me that is my yelling. I have a boyfriend who is very sensitive to yelling. We've been together for 7 years and even though I knew that yelling was not the way to get through to him, I still tried it. Finally it hit me, duh, this isn't working, let's try a different approach. I find that if I let myself cool down and then talk to him calmly, I achieve so much more. And I know he has learned to give me that time to cool of, if he doesn't react right away to something that I've said that wasn't neither nice nor necessary, I will come back sooner rather than later and apologize. If he jumps right in, I jump right in and my yelling ensues. Not good. We have actually discussed this topic when we were both cool headed and have learned that yep, the same old thing just won't work.
So if you find yourself in the same situation over and over and over, look behind you at the path that got you there. Obviously something has to change, you have to learn that what you've already tried just isn't working so just try something new, try a new path, a new attitude, shoot even a new hairstyle! Life does not have to, and shouldn't be a rut.
So no more of the same old thing, be adventurous in every area of your life and try something new, and if that doesn't work toss it aside and try something else that is new and different. I fully believe the more you try, the sooner you will find the right combination for you!
