I must be their number one promoter. Today I talked to an old friend, who I thought of often, but without facebook would NEVER had been able to find him.
He's had a rough time of it. That hurts my heart because he is an awesome person.
But like I told him, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Your past is your past, take the lessons you need from it and let the rest of it all go away. And don't let someone bring you down from it. You know the truth of the matter, hold that to your heart and run with it.
We all make mistakes or have bad stuff happen to us. At the time we honestly think there is no way to get this 'mud' off of our shoe. But I can tell you from experience, in time the mud will dry and fall off and with a little scrubbing your shoes will be all better.
Friends are so important in a time like this. And you really learn who your friends truly are. If someone who claims to be your friend and in your time of need they leave you, trust me, you are better off. There are many very cool people in this world and if you are open to them, they will find you.
The same goes for that special someone. But I kind of like the rehab way of doing things, you need to learn and care for yourself first. It may seem selfish, but you know, sometimes you just have to be. Learning who you really are can be scary. But in the long run I know you will be surprised at what you find out about yourself. And the things you don't like about yourself, change, it is possible.
And don't be too hard on yourself, NO ONE is perfect, we all have our flaws, what we need to do is to look at those flaws honestly and see what can be done to fix them. And where do you go to look? You guessed it, my favorite place - the internet. Just type in the search bar exactly what you want to know. A lot of stuff will come up and in your searching through that information maybe you'll hit on something that really clicks for you. Like my blogging does for me.
I have always been an avid journal writer, I must admit my writing and my journals have gotten me through some tough spots in my head and my heart.
That may not work for you, but if you keep searching and looking for the real you, or the real you you want to be, you will find what you seek.
There have been those days I just say, WTF, I am just chucking it all and saying forget it. But you can't, that is allowing weakness to grab a hold of you. You may not feel it all the time, but each of us has an inner strength that would really surprise you. Look for that, and leach onto it and do not let it go.
Living in Vegas we usually have sunny days but in the summer it gets really hot, yesterday it was about 90 degrees and so beautiful I said to my boyfriend if it could only always stay this way. But then I said no, if it didn't get to 112 in the summer we wouldn't appreciate the beauty of these days.
So the days you feel are hell, work your way through them and when you go to bed try and find the good points of that day, if you can't find one good point, then look to tomorrow and think about what you can do to make it a better day. Make a plan and execute it.
And those days it is too dark to see, call a true friend, they will hold your hand - even if over the phone - and guide you through until you can see the sun again.
No matter how dark it feels now, I promise you, that one day the sun will shine and because you missed it, it will make that day the treasure all days can and should be.
