I looked back at my past blogs to see if I had covered this thought. I have covered brick walls, but I feel those are different that road blocks. Brick walls are a lot harder to break down or to get around.
Road blocks can be caused in many ways. We may set them up ourselves, others may set them up for us, or they may just happen to be caused by circumstance.
When we come upon a road block it is usually a bunch of people and cars and barricades, like in the movies, just in your mind. And being nice people we want to listen to everyone's opinion and give it serious weight, but sometimes we just can't. Sometimes we have to pull a Smokey and the Bandit and just barrel through that road block full speed ahead.
I love that movie, Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields, her barefeet on the dash and they blow through and look back and just laugh and keep on barreling down the road, full steam ahead.
Sometimes we need to adopt that attitude. We know the path we are on is the right one for us, and of course there are always nay-sayers, so we just blow right by them, looking back strong and sure and laughing at having the strength to do what we know is right for us. Like in the old days, it was frowned upon for women to go to college. But, thankfully some brave women stepped up and broke right through that road block and made life for future generations better.
Sometimes going through road blocks can be a breeze, but sometimes they are a lot stronger and take time and care to figure out how to get around. Please, when you find one of these road blocks, don't hurt your head - figuratively - butting it again and again. Step back, take a breath and think about what are the proper steps to get around this road block.
Always take the time to survey the lay of the land, to figure out for sure what those road blocks are. If they are from inside of yourself, be patient with yourself and give yourself time to work through them. If someone else is blocking you, give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they have good cause.
All things that you need to do, you should do, but approach them in the proper frame of mind. Sometimes you'll blast through those road blocks, sometimes you'll sneak around them and sometime you'll talk your way through them. Never discredit what is in front of you, just figure the right way to bust that road block and to proceed on your way, living your life on your terms.
