Affirmations

I have come across a very cool website. I know I've said something about it before, but while I was looking at it today I can across something that I hadn't thought about in a long while. Affirmations.

Affirmations are words or sayings we say to ourselves to remind us of important things. This page of that website has a lot of affirmations and sayings that will help remind us that we are all special and important and deserving.

The website is: http://www.sapphyr.net/largegems/index.htm

What I do is look at a lot of different ones and pick and choose from them all and come up with something that is special just to me. Everybody is so different in their needs that just one person's affirmation will probably not be the answer for us. Pick and choose what touches your heart, write it down on a 3 x 5 index card, or my favorite a post-it note, and carry it in your purse or pocket and when you aren't feeling good, take it out and reread it.

Affirmations can really be a rally point. And from time to time change them around. I like to have two or three handy, depending on my mood or the day, one of them usually brings me some peace of mind or reminds me of my importance, either to myself or to the others in my life.

Another good type of affirmation are pictures. I find when I am having a bad day and I look at the picture of my grandson, Paul, who is 2, laughing, that makes me smile, no matter how I feel. If I need peace I find a picture of a wooded glade, all green and calming. Or I have a CD of ocean sounds. When we stop and take a moment to look at our Higher Power's magnitude, then sometimes our problems may seem not so huge. Anyone that can create a sequoia tree that has lasted hundreds of years, or rivers that flow so deep and strong, can surely take care of us in our time of need.

So, go to my favorite place - the internet and type in a google search "affirmations" and look around and find words and phrases that touch you, that mean something to you.

I know that sometimes we feel there is no hope, but there always is and affirmations will remind you of that.
