This came from my goodest friend bev. she and I have been chatting a couple of hours this morning and going over a lot of stuff. Talking with her always makes me feel better, she'll listen and just hear me. She never tells me that I should do such and such, she just has good ideas that she offers. Today I was having a very hard time coming up with something positive to write about. So I asked her and she thought and came up with today's blog - Hope springs eternal.
That is just what I needed to hear. This weekend has been okay. Not all it could be, but like bev reminded me Hope Springs Eternal.
So I have grabbed that and am going to run with it. It is a very good thing to remember. Even on our worse days, we may have nothing else going for us, but we can always have hope. Hope that things will improve, hope that someone we love will feel better, hope that we can go out for dinner with a friend. Hope covers everything from big to small.
Hope is necessary in life, without it we'd all just curl up and whither away. Hope gives us the courage to go on and work toward going forward each day.
Believe me I do understand feeling hopelessness, been there, done that - it sucked! But today bev reminded me about hope and I am going to keep that thought in the forefront of my mind. Maybe even write it on a post-it and keep it visible.
I took a break to take a shower and as usual good thoughts came to me while I'm in the shower. It came to me that what we hope for has to be for ourselves. We can't hope that someone will change, we can hope that we can accept them for what they are. Putting your hope onto someone else will usually lead to disappointment for you. Don't set yourself up for disappointment, don't pin your hopes on someone else's behavior or attitude or actions.
The only hope that we can really achieve is the hope and goals we put for ourselves. Life can have many disappointments, but we can make sure that they are not about ourselves. Start with putting your hopes in a positive light. Everything can be looked at either negatively or positively. Of course we want positive. So examine your hopes and if necessary change them so that they are reasonable. We can hope to win Megabucks, but a better and more reasonable hope is that we learn to manage our money better. Shooting for the moon isn't bad, high hopes can be achievable, but more often than not, not very easily. Life is hard enough as it is, why make our hopes harder than they have to be. I am a firm believe in starting small and working yourself up to the bigger things. When you acquire more confidence in the fact that your hopes are possible, it gives you more gumption to try harder for the harder ones.
And on those days when you feel there is no hope, go back to the beginning, find something small and achievable and get that hope fulfilled and your faith in your hopes will be restored. Not every day is going to be a red letter day - a very good day. If you recognize that and on those days you don't let them get you too far down, and one way to do that is to remind yourself that -
Hope Springs Eternal.
p.s. thanks bev! love ya doll!
