This is a line in a Sugarland song. It caught my attention and I pondered it for a few minutes and said yep, that is right.
The days when my boyfriend is having a bad day and I act silly to make him smile and laugh and he accepts my goofiness and he feels better, then we have created his happiness. I helped and together we created happiness.
Creating happiness is something that is very important. We can do it for ourselves and we can do it for others. I like, when I am at a store or something and a baby or small child is crying I like to talk to them and goo goo at them to get their minds off whatever is making them upset and see if I can make them smile. Their smile creates a huge bunch of happiness, not only for me, but for their parents. When I am standing in line to check out, if I see someone looking down, I like to try and make a happy comment. Like how beautiful the day is, even inane conversation like that can take a person's mind off whatever issue was bothering them, if only for a moment.
Just think, if everyone took to heart that it is up to us to create happiness, not just for ourselves but for others, I really think that there would be no wars. If people were happy, we wouldn't be fighting over stuff. If everyone decided to create happiness wherever they are, wars would be a thing of the past because you can't be happy during war.
As unfeasible as that is, I can still wish for it. Sadness is as contagious as happiness. So why can't we have more happiness in the mix.
My fix to the issue is - a schedule should be made and everyone should be given an hour when it is their turn to create happiness. Anyone can do anything for an hour, even create happiness, and if you know in advance when your time is you could plan for it. But we know that isn't possible, so I am hoping that whoever reads this takes it upon themselves to do their part to create happiness. When you see someone looking sad, take the time and smile at them. Even a brief moment of happiness can become more and more the more it is passed around.
Creating happiness is an important job and is assigned to everyone. I know from personal experience that the more you create happiness around you, the further it will spread. And if there is anything we want an epidemic of, it is happiness.
Even if you aren't feeling happy right now, know that if you work on it you can create your own happiness and get a solid fix on that, then start on working creating happiness for others.
