No matter how good the weekend was, my Monday always seems to be a day I could surely do without. Maybe it is because I enjoy my time at home and it is hard to shift gears from home to work. I am lucky, I have a job that I really like, and you'd think that would take away the Monday sting. But it doesn't.
I have to make a serious effort to not be snippy in the mornings and by the time I get home I just want to put my jammies on and crawl into bed. I don't live alone so that isn't possible.
So what can I do on Monday's to make them not so gray? It isn't the weather because out here in Vegas it is always sunny. I know it is something inside of myself. Maybe I don't handle my Sunday nights right. I must admit on occasion I do whine about having to go to work on Monday, that right there sets a bad tone. So I'll stop that.
What else can I do? I could make Monday count my blessings day. Even put it on my calendar - Monday - Count Blessings. I think that is a good one because even as I type this I am thinking of my blessings and I am smiling. Even on the worst days, blessings are always good to remember.
I have quite a few Self-Empowerment pages saved in my favorites. I do know that I have read some really good stuff. I even sort of cheated yesterday and used a page for my blog, but it was a good one and I wanted more people to read it.
Everyone of us is different, of course, we all know that. So what you do for you is what you need to do. It might not work for your spouse or friend, but that doesn't matter. If it works for you, go for it.
Another thing, like I talked about not too long ago. Music is wonderful. When I am feeling bummed I like finding funny country music songs. Come to think of it, other than Weird Al I think country music is the only music that takes jabs at life so we can laugh at it sometimes. Kudos to them!!
There is a song by Terri Clark called Got Better Things to Do. It is about a break up and her ex is wondering if she is pining for him. And she tells him she has better things to do - like washing her car in the rain. Now if that doesn't give him a slap down and give her power, nothing would.
So find a few songs that make you smile and put them either on your IPOD or other music listening device make a playlist of your smiling songs and when you need a lift put them on and let the music wash over you.
No matter what it is that makes your Monday's better - no matter if your Monday is a Wednesday or Friday, you know what I mean - do it. Life is supposed to be as enjoyable as we can make it. I know that is what I want, so that is what I will do.
