Music and Dancing

I know that when I am in a good mood and a great song comes on I just want to move with the beat of the song and that just seems to expand how good I am feeling.

Dancing is a wonderful form of release for many things. When I am home alone and I feel goofy I feel completely at ease to just jump around and maybe even get my doggie to dance with me. He totally thinks its goofy I know, but he humors me. Not bad for a big pit pull. And he does have some moves too!

Music is such a blessing in our world. Every culture has their favorite form of it and they have their favorite form of dancing too. People in different cultures use music and dancing as a way to pay homage to their Powers that Be. Anyone who has been in a church or house of worship knows there is always some kind of music. And the luckier ones even throw in some dance moves.

That shows me that music and dancing are good things. I know if I am having a bad day if I can find the right song, I will smile and feel better. Country music is great for traveling, you can sing it - even if you can't carry a tune - and some of them are very funny and lively.

They say music soothes the savage beast. They have been saying that for 1,000's of years. So it must be true. So whatever is your savage beast - a bad day, a grumbling child, an ornery loved one, find some happy music and let it play. I can almost guarantee you that if you find happy music and start dancing around not only will they get out of that mood, but they will start with a smile and I bet work their way into laughter.

I feel it is my obligation as a human being to help my fellow human beings to learn to live and enjoy life, hence my blog. But even if I can't get them to read it, if I start singing Good Morning Starshine, I know they will smile.

Be honest now, when you see someone jauntily walking down the sidewalk and either whistling or singing to themselves, and maybe even adding a little hop-skip into the mix, doesn't that make you smile and if only for a moment forget whatever was bothering you. I know it does me. And I love when I glance over to the car next to me and they are jamming as hard as I am. Car dancing is a great form of exercise too!

Again I will say, if we can get everyone on this happiness bandwagon, we just might be able to establish what every Miss American wants - World Peace!
